Every child has a place to grow and shine
Our Special Educational Needs & Inclusion programme provides individualised support to children with learning differences — within a warm, mainstream nursery setting.
A different approach to inclusion
At Early Scholars, inclusion isn't a separate room or a separate hour — it's how we run our entire nursery. Children with additional needs learn, play, and grow alongside their peers, with targeted support woven naturally into the day.
Tailored care for a wide range of needs
Our team is trained to recognise and support children across the developmental spectrum. We work closely with parents and external specialists to build the right plan.
Speech & Language
Children with speech delays, articulation differences, or expressive/receptive language needs. We use visuals, signs, and small-group interventions.
Autism Spectrum
Structured routines, visual supports, sensory-friendly spaces, and one-to-one shadow teachers when needed.
Developmental Delays
Children who need extra time to reach milestones in motor, cognitive, or social skills. We slow down so they can move forward.
Sensory Processing
Quiet corners, weighted toys, fidget breaks, and a sensory-aware environment for children who feel the world differently.
Attention & Focus
Movement breaks, visual schedules, and short focused activities for children with attention or regulation needs.
Motor Skills
Fine and gross motor support — adaptive seating, OT-aligned exercises, and patience for every milestone.
How we build a plan around your child
Step 1 · Discovery meeting
We start with a relaxed conversation — you, our SEN coordinator, and your child if you wish. We listen to your story, your child's strengths, and any concerns or diagnoses you've received.
- Review prior assessments and reports
- Share observations from home
- Discuss daily routines and triggers
- Agree on initial goals together
Step 2 · Individual Learning Plan
Our SEN coordinator creates a clear, written plan with small, achievable goals — across communication, social skills, motor development, and learning. Reviewed every term.
- Specific, measurable goals
- Strategies for class teachers
- Recommended routines and visuals
- Parent home-support tips
Step 3 · Daily support in the classroom
Your child stays in their age-appropriate room with their friends. A trained educator (or shadow teacher when needed) supports them throughout the day — gently, naturally, and always with dignity.
- Visual schedules and now-next boards
- Small-group or one-to-one moments
- Sensory tools available all day
- Calm corner for regulation breaks
Step 4 · Partnership with families & specialists
We work openly with your child's external therapists — speech, occupational, behavioural — and welcome them into the nursery for consultation. You stay updated through journal photos, weekly check-ins, and termly progress meetings.
- Open door for therapists and specialists
- Shared notes and goal alignment
- Weekly parent updates
- Termly written progress reviews
What inclusion means to us
Dignity always
Your child is a child first. Their needs are never the headline — their personality, their joy, their growth is.
Patience without limits
Progress looks different for every child. We celebrate the smallest wins and never rush a milestone.
Belonging, not separation
Children with additional needs play, eat, sing, and learn with their typical peers. That's where true belonging is built.
Parents often ask…
Does my child need a formal diagnosis to join the SEN programme?
No. Many parents come to us with concerns but no formal diagnosis. We can support exploration, observation, and referrals — at your pace.
Will my child be in a separate room?
No. Your child stays with their age group and friends. Targeted support happens within the classroom or in short focused sessions.
Can my child's external therapist visit the nursery?
Yes — we welcome it. Joint sessions and shared goals lead to faster progress for your child.
Are shadow teachers available?
Yes, when needed. We can arrange a dedicated shadow teacher in coordination with the family and your specialist's recommendation.
How are fees structured for SEN support?
Standard nursery fees apply. Additional support (shadow teachers, intensified one-to-one time) is quoted based on your child's plan. We'll discuss this openly during your discovery meeting.
